When we came up with the idea to sell cupcakes, I don't think either of us expected to be creating our own recipes. As we've test run some of our flavors, it has become apparent that we just aren't satisfied with any run of the mill concoction. Thus, by the end of each flavor trial we have ended up with a unique, one of a kind recipe that we personally put together. It's feels like an equivalent to our signature on each cupcake, and that's satisfying.
Our most resent baking trial was for a poppyseed cupcake with an almond butter-cream frosting. The initial poppyseed cupcake came out dry and ugly to put it bluntly. Not sales material at all. We dug through our archives of recipes and tweaked one a bit. The second attempt was definitely a success - moist, flavorful, and nice to look at. The almond butter-cream was a home run from the get go. We nailed it the very first time. It's creamy and rich without being overly sweet. And oh the almond flavoring! Absolutely to die for. A perfect balance for its nutty poppyseed counterpart.
